Before we popped the champagne and celebrated the New Year, here at Marham House we stopped and reflected on the year that had gone by. It is important that although we are hoping for a better, healthier, and happier New Year, we stopped and remembered the good times, the sense of community coming together, the letters, cards, and gifts our residents received from different Schools, Churches, and Communities, the new appreciation we had gained for family time and seeing loved ones, and the proudness we felt as a home for our contribution we made during extraordinary and difficult circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our residents took some time to reflect on the year that has passed and wrote down their wishes and hopes for the future.
One resident said “I’m praying that people would abide by the rules so we can enjoy 2021”
At Marham House residents prepared to see in the New Year by spending the afternoon watching a virtual singer, before spending the evening celebrating and enjoying a special buffet with drinks to welcome in the New Year.
The residents New Years Day followed a Victorian New Year’s Day, where traditions included having one’s tea leaves read and enjoying tea and cake.
Our staff at Marham House believe in giving our residents an independent lifestyle while at the same time supporting their needs. In this way, our staff can deliver person-centred care in a dignified, understated way. We believe that no one should come into our home unless we are going to be able to make their lives better, make their days easier and support them in leading the life they choose to lead.
After a year which has stopped most of us being able to live life to the fullest, we are hoping next year will bring us more hope of getting back to normal.
A New Year gives us another chance to do better. Here at Marham House we are asking you to stop worrying what if and start embracing what could be. Marham House is more than just a care home, it is a lifestyle choice, and the next chapter in your life.
Although we cannot offer full tours of the home, we are able to offer socially distanced visits, for more information regarding our home please contact 01284 335964 or email info@halcyoncarehomes.co.uk
