We are so proud of our garden at Marham House. We enjoy everything about it. We love to get out and get our hands dirty, weeding and planting and we really love sitting in the sun with a cup of tea or maybe even something a little stronger.
We have two residents here a who are naturally green fingered, Joy and Geoffrey. They spend hours in the garden, they have a real talent for knowing what to plant and when to plant it. They also, unlike myself know the difference between a weed and a flower. They have worked so hard to provide us with a beautiful oasis to enjoy.
This week we received the news that we had been awarded a merit in the Bury in Bloom Awards. This is award is so well deserved. The entire team here have put so much time and effort into creating our garden; Joy and Geoffrey have led the way in design and upkeep and the night team have kept everything in bloom by ensuring that it is watered nightly. We benefit from their dedication daily, so this recognition is the icing on the cake.
We were excited to hear that we had been invited to collect our award in person. It was unanimously agreed that Joy and Geoffrey should be the ones to attend, so on Wednesday they travelled down to the Bury St Edmunds Athenaeum for the award ceremony.
We eagerly anticipated their return, keen to hear all about their outing. It sounds like they had a fabulous afternoon. They proudly showed off the certificate and regaled us with a minute-by-minute account of the afternoon’s proceedings.
Year on year our garden is flourishing, we have a wonderful area for the bees, we have herbs, flowers, raised beds and a comfortable seating area; but we aren’t finished yet.
We are very proud of our merit, but we are aiming high, we will get that gold award one day, just watch this space.
