Do you remember a while back we were all asked to write our wishes on a card and place them in the wishing well?
Well, there was magic in the air this week at Marham House because our wishes started coming true right before our very eyes.
I have loved Elvis for as long as I can remember, he had a voice as smooth as silk and looks to match. He had a song for every occasion, from melancholy ballads to rock and roll numbers that had everyone up dancing. He captured the essence of a generation and as soon as I hear him sing, I am transported back to the days of winklepickers and petticoats.
My wish was to see in Elvis sing, a tall order given that he is sadly no longer with us, but I was asked for my wish, and this is what I wish for.
Friday started just like any other day, breakfast with my friends and a lovely morning spent relaxing together chatting and laughing, we knew we had a surprise coming that afternoon so there was a certain amount of excitement in the air.
Imagine my delight when that afternoon I returned from lunch to find Elvis was in the building. There he was, hair slicked back, microphone in hand, what a thrill.
He sang all my favourites, and we all sang along. We crooned, we rocked, we danced, we had such a wonderful afternoon, I didn’t want it to end. It was a special afternoon for all of us but especially for me, because today my wish came true.
