At Timken we love to do our bit for the community in which we live. We are always dreaming up ways to give back and for this reason we were delighted when we were offered the opportunity to take part in a fundraising abseil down the Express Lift Tower in Northampton, we jumped at the chance, and we knew just who we wanted to raise money for.
Northampton General Hospital have had a tough couple of years, they have been at the forefront of the nation’s battle against Covid and have worked tirelessly to get through it. We owe our NHS a great deal and we wanted to give back what we could.
On Saturday Amanda, Mel and Scott from Timken were up nice and early to meet up with Mark, our Operational Developments Director to begin their brave challenge. We were kept up to date with photos, I have to say the tower looked pretty high to us. Most of us agreed that we wouldn’t really want to stand at the top of it, let alone descend the length of it dangling from a rope.
Amanda and her brave team did an amazing job, with all four of them completing the challenge, they even did some of the descent facing forwards, I can’t begin to imagine how that must have felt, but they all returned to Timken Grange pretty pleased with themselves and certainly looking a lot less anxious than when they had set off earlier in the day.
We held a party Saturday afternoon to celebrate their achievement, it was a lot of fun, and they certainly deserved a treat. We are so proud of them.
