The level of care is important, the optimum team to resident ratio is paramount and the cleanliness of the home and the standard of the menu is obvious however what you often do not hear mentioned is the lifestyle. What happens once you are up and dressed, once you’ve enjoyed your breakfast and your bed has been made?
Well at Timken Grange there is much to do. We understand that the way in which you fill your days is what life is all about, we appreciate that the people who choose to live with us are individuals and that for every person who is content to sit in the library and lose themselves in a good book there is a person who needs to be busy, who wants to be challenged, who craves social interaction. Some people are more than happy to have others shop for them or run errands others are fiercely independent and want to do these things for themselves.
We are extremely proud of our lifestyle team, the relationships that they form are special, they take time to get to know each of our residents individually and treat them so. Our activity schedule is resident led and no request is refused - although we did have to say no to bungee jumping.
The way in which we spend our days is the way in which we grow as people, the way we form relationships, a means to learning and to experiencing joy. It’s through activities and interactions, through forming new connections with the community and nurturing friendships that memories are made.
A lifestyle choice is not just a tagline, it’s not something that is only afforded to the young, it is important that everyone can and does live the life they choose and at Timken Grange we never lose sight of this.
