How many people over a certain age can, hand on heart say that they have never spun their umbrella in the rain, danced along the kerbside and attempted to swing around a lamppost whilst belting out their own rendition of Singing in the Rain. The scene from this film, featuring Gene Kelly is iconic and we never tire of watching it.
Last week was national umbrella day, and it seemed like the perfect excuse to put together our very own Marham House version of Singing in the Rain.
We had so much fun, I have no idea where the team found so many umbrellas, but they did and in all the colours of the rainbow. Everyone wanted to join in, we swung and twirled our umbrellas with joy. The choreography was a little hit and miss at times, but it was so much fun.
The team were much more adventurous than we were, taking it in turn to dance under a hose, in February, they really are game for anything.
The resulting video is fabulous, we have watched it many times and it makes us smile. It has been posted on our social media pages and had had over 7000 views, it even got a thumbs up from Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene’s widow.
When I moved into Marham House, I expected I’d be doing many things, starring in videos wasn’t one of them.
