The Spa came to Hazel End this week as residents indulged in all things relaxing. There are so many benefits associated with therapies delivered at a Spa, therefore Hazel End see it as a brilliant activity to promote in their varied lifestyle agenda, to ensure wellbeing of body and mind.

In the afternoon, residents were transported to their very own spa. The room was converted into a meditative haven, with a mixture of soft relaxation music to destress, dim lighting to disconnect, and fragrant aromas to help open airways. The lifestyle team assisted residents to soak their feet in warm water with salts and essential oils. Following this, Hazel End residents enjoyed foot scrubs and massages; this not only helps to remove dead skin cells and provide intensive moisturising, but regular massages have been found to reduce aches and pains associated with conditions such as arthritis. One resident who suffers from foot and leg pain said, “It’s so lovely to feel so relaxed. I really struggle with my feet; they are always playing me up. The massage was lovely and made my feet feel so much better, thank you. It has been a beautiful afternoon.”

Another resident said “It is so nice to unwind and relax. In all my years I have never felt so pampered, it is normally me doing the work but today it was my turn. My feet and hands feel lovely, they feel so soft.”

Residents also enjoyed hand and nail care, manicures, cucumber on their eyes and even a head massage, the full spa experience! A resident said, “I’ve never had a head massage before, it feels so relaxing, thank you to the girls who set this up.”

Lifestyle assistant Emily said, “It was so lovely to see the residents relax and unwind, after all their years of hard work they really deserved a pamper!”

Family of residents at Hazel End are jealous of all the pampering too, upon seeing photos of their loved ones. One daughter said, “I think I want to book myself a room at Hazel End! They are always doing something, I haven’t been to the spa in so long, my lucky mum getting to be pampered all the time, I am so happy for her.”
