Championing Social Care are a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector. Their vision is to ensure a wider and deeper public understanding, appreciation, and respect for social care. They do not seek to represent the care sector or care workers. Rather, they are focused on delivering positive stories and initiatives about the sector about which we at Halcyon Care Homes care so passionately.
June 27th to July 3rd was Championing Social Care’s annual open week, a week during which care homes up and down the country are invited to open their doors to anyone who is interested in finding out a little bit more about social care.
We were very excited to take part, we wanted to put on an event to suit all ages and our manager Preet came up with The Greatest Showaround, a title that she was rightly proud of.
We had a marvellous day, full of juggling, plate spinning and clowning around. We invited members of the local community along and were extremely proud to show off all that Priors Hall has to offer.
Residents and team members got very competitive when it came to learning circus skills and everyone fell in love with Dawn the pony who had her own show around, meeting residents on her way.
We will be hosting more open days over the coming months and inviting our local community to get more involved with Priors Hall and the wonderful people who live and work here.
