Monday 26th July started out just like any other day at Timken Grange but by the afternoon things had taken a strange turn….
Afternoon tea is always a popular affair but today there was a magic in the air, a sense that something very strange was going on at Timken Grange. As we walked into the cinema room, we were taken aback to see that it had been transformed into a fantasy woodland with a grand table laden with treats, delicious looking cakes, homemade scones oozing with cream and jam and a shiny teapot full of hot tea. We sampled the Tea, and it tasted the same as it usually does, the cakes and the scones all looked as delicious as they usually do but the team serving them up looked decidedly different.
Gone were the smiling team in their uniforms and name badges and in their place was the Mad Hatter himself and with him was the Cheshire Cat, grinning from ear to ear. It wasn’t too long before one of us spotted Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum ambling towards the cinema room looking for tasty treat. Just when we thought that things could not get any stranger, we found ourselves face to face with not one but threes Queens of Hearts. We were awestruck, after all, it is not every day that you get to meet a queen much less three of them. We were of course honoured to share our tea with such illustrious guests and a wonderful afternoon full of fun, laughter and madness was had by all.
Events like this really brighten our day and the team always manage to surprise us with their ingenuity and creativity, they really do such a marvelous job, and there is never a dull moment. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We had a fabulous time down that rabbit hole and are all truly hopeful that we may stumble across it again one day.
A video of our antics is available on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/TimkenDuston
Managing Director Daniel AKA, The Mad Hatter commented “The team at Timken Grange came together over the last few weeks to plan the events of today. We believe in taking a simple concept and making it the most amazing experience for all residents.
It was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces as all tucked into finger sandwiches, tea, a selection of weird and wonderful juices and cakes that were made by our very own Head of Care. The highlight of the day for me was getting to spend time with residents and sharing meaningful moments with a lot of laughter and fun.
There are so many more events to come that I cannot wait to attend!”
