This week the fabulous lifestyle team here at Timken hosted an “Under the Sea” day; obvioulsy the lifestyle team were dressed up, they are of course known for their love of a costume, but the care team aren’t usually quite as eager so it was great to see them join in too. Bobbi and Rachael went all out with the mermaid costumes complete with fish scales and shells. They looked wonderful.
The day was spent taking part in sea themed crafts and our visiting squid and lobster made the rounds introducing themselves to us, encouraging us to meet them in the tearoom for a surprise. We did as we were asked and were delighted to find that the tearoom had been turned into an under water cavern, with fish, seaweed and even a shark. The kitchen team had created a wonderful spread complete with prawn cocktails, ‘crabiches’ (croissant sandwiches), sea shell pasta salad, cupcakes and a dolphin fruit display. We really enjoyed ourselves, it was so much fun we didn’t want the day to end.
Coincidently, “Under the Sea” day just happened to fall on the 99th birthday of Dorothy who was thrilled to spend her special day underwater, she seemed equally delighted when her card and present from Team Timken was delivered to her by two beautiful mermaids.
What a brilliant day, we cannot wait for the next one.
