VE day was a very special day here at Hazel End full of celebration. To mark the 76th year anniversary of VE Day, residents and staff enjoyed a huge street party. Residents enjoyed, war time songs, dancing, shared memories of the war, laughing, a few tears and a day of new memories, at Hazel End Care Home.
The kitchen team put on a delicious party spread, with a Best of British buffet, tipples, and plenty of tea.
The day was rounded off watching Churchill’s original broadcast and red arrow displays.
Residents Jane and Charles wore their uniform and medals with pride, as a mark of not only their service, but the service given by loved ones.
VE Day celebrations continued over the weekend with maintenance manager, Russell’s show vehicle being brought to Hazel End for residents to have a look and learn all about it.
The weekend finished with a very special performance by the wonderful Gary B Entertainment.
Residents enjoyed a wartime singalong followed by some other familiar favourites including Neil Diamond, Elvis and many more.
Thank you, Gary! Our residents had a brilliant afternoon of dancing and singing.

You look into their faces and remember they were once young, vibrant people who sacrificed so much to earn those medals. Thank you so much for sharing.”
