To recognise World Ocean Day, we were transported to a sea life experience in our Hazel End cinema. Residents enjoyed delicious aquarium mocktails whilst being surrounded by beautiful underwater decorations.
We reminisced lots over holidays to the seaside, boat trips out to sea and snorkelling in the ocean with the fish. Residents were keen to learn facts about the ocean and how we need to protect it. They were surprised to learn how our oceans are under threat so thought a day like this was really important. We then showed Blue Planet on the big screen and to see all the images of the fish was mesmerising. One of the ladies said, ‘It was so interesting learning about the ocean, and I really enjoyed watching the videos of the sea, some of the fish are so funny looking and I had no idea there were so many types of sea life’. Lifestyle Lead Georgia said, ‘It was amazing to hear about everyone’s stories to do with the sea and their memories of it. It is so important to learn about this as our ocean as it is so vital on our planet. A wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by all.’
Not only was the afternoon nice and relaxing for our residents in the sensory cinema, but they also learnt lots of fun facts and saw beautiful images of fish they had never seen before. Another resident said ‘it was such a good afternoon; it makes a change doing something different and interesting. I have never seen so many types of fish before.’
